Mastering is an interesting thing because it’s fairly easy to get wrong in a world of DIY productions and ever changing loudness standards on streaming services such as Spotify. One of the reasons I got into mastering as a producer and engineer myself was the lacklustre affordable options out there, many of which are shoved in your face constantly these days.
I worked with one such prominent figure who’s master added nasty distortion to my track, and they seemingly either didn’t hear it or couldn’t be bothered to fix it when I pointed it out.
Plus there is no shortage of robots that master your music in a characterless way while adding bizarre artifacts that you can’t have changed.
I like to approach mastering as a way to add some extra character, polish, and loudness to a track without adding anything nasty like distortion or artifacts from over limited and clipped tracks.
But enough of me yammering, get a sample and hear for yourself what I would do for your track.
*Obviously the quality of what I can do will be affected by any problems in your mix. I can try and work around issues, and can let you know what you might what to do to fix them, but I cannot undo them completely in mastering.
